Replace boiler relay with controller

Hi All,

I'm looking to wall mount my wifi evohome controller. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the boiler relay (BDR91) with the wifi controller and wire the boiler into the wall mount plate for the controller instead? Or is the boiler relay a 100% must have regardless of configuration?
